Muraje is a boutique winery located in Carema, at the border of Valle d’Aosta in the foothills of the Alps.

It was founded in 2012 by Federico and Deborah Santini, driven by their passion for the region's rich oenological history and unique terroir Carema is renowned for its "Heroic Viticulture," where cultivation is done manually on steep terraces connected by stone staircases.

The soil, known as "Terreno Morenico," is glacial in origin, and vines are traditionally trained using the pergola Caremese system, supported by handmade stone pillars called "pilun". Muraje farms 1.5 hectares of old vines, focusing on Nebbiolo (Picotener clone) and small quantities of indigenous varieties like Neyret, Ner d’Ala, Pugnet, and Erbaluce.

Muraje employs natural and environmentally conscious practices, with manual labor in the vineyards and minimal chemical use. In the cellar, they focus on producing expressive wines that reflect Carema's terroir. Fermentation is spontaneous, with long maceration periods (around 70 days for reds), and ageing occurs in neutral barrels.

The wines are unrefined, unfiltered, and have minimal sulphite additions.Muraje produces two highly sought-after wines in limited quantities:

  • Carema Sumié: A 100% Nebbiolo wine from old vines, known for its complexity and elegance.
  • Lasù: A blend of Nebbiolo (60%) and other indigenous varieties, offering a more approachable style.

Muraje has gained a "cult" status among collectors, with its flagship Carema wine being one of the most coveted Piedmont wines, available in the UK only at Ultravino.
