The Barolo growing area is a complex designation of vineyards largely located in the core comuni of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba and encompasses parts of several other famous comuni such as La Morra, Novello and Verduno, to name a few. Strict DOCG appellation rules ensure that vineyards must also possess favourable exposition, incline, comparative altitude and humidity. Barolos can differ significantly in taste due to the local topography, microclimate, vinification and the Nebbiolo grape’s inherent ability to convey all these variables in the glass.
