Guido Rivella

After 44 glorious years as oenologist at Gaja, Guido retired in 2014. Since then he has been making tiny quantities of wine with his children Enrico and Silvia at his small family estate in Barbaresco. The cantina produces, in just under four hectares of vineyards, approximative 15,000 bottles. In the best vintages, Guido make three Barbaresco, a straight Barbaresco and two single Barbaresco crus – the Fausoni and the Montestefano. In weaker vintages, all the fruit is combined to make a single Barbaresco. The wines are vinified in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aged in used French oak.
